Jeffrey Smith is the co-founder of Commercial Connect, LLC. Smith has been active in the management and reorganization of the Internet for the past fifteen years which included the breakup of Network Solutions and the creation of CORE and ICANN. Smith is a founding member of CORE. He was present and active in the formation of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and he was a founding co-owner of Afilias, LLC. As a member of Afilias, Smith and his colleagues launched a successful bid to operate the .info registry.
Mr. Smith has been consulting and providing contributions to the Internet community for the past twenty years. With his leadership and initiative, multiple technology companies were created: CAS-Com Internet Services, Inc., an Internet Service Provider (ISP); Best Registration Services, Inc. and CASDNS, Inc., both accredited ICANN top-level domain name registrars. He also assisted multiple additional registrars, both technically as well a procedurally, in becoming ICANN-certified. Smith has over twenty years consulting experience in the infomaion systems and business management fields. He has consulted for various telecommunications and high-level technology companies including NASA, CORE, ICANN, AT&T, Afilias, Wal-Mart, Telecom, Texas Department of Public Safety, United Parcel Service, and Humana, Inc. among many others, on technology and Internet-related issues.
